My mom and I each have problems with the cartilage in our knees and take glucosamine sulfate supplements daily. It doesn't completely remove the problem, but it makes it much better, less painful and easier to deal with.
Pick up some glucosamine sulfate (the sulfate kind is a purer form of glucosamine) and make an appointment with your doctor.

I always recommend that people get on glucosomyn with MSN as it helps the joints.. It really does.

BUT if you have knee problems NOW.. you may have to do what I did.. go to a knee doctor and he scraped (meniscus) under the knee cap... I was off my feet(more or less) for 5-6 weeks).. and HOPE that is all it is because a KNEE replacement, I have heard, is not pleasant)

You should go and see the doctor, have a exray, don't delay, otherwise the problem will worsen, ask the doctor for you to be referred to Pysiotherapist. i have knee problems too, went to see the doctor and they refered me to Physio, they are going to order me some insoles for comfort. It could be your muscle, you dont know unless you have seen the doctor. I thought i had lack of fluid in my knee joints as you get older, i thought wrong, she said it is perfectly ok, just tender muscles, because i do running. Have plenty of fish and vegetables and suplements, also get your blood checked.
