Bullying is an ugly matter of fact unacceptable in children. Society often concludes that bullying stops when children become adults.

I know there is a focus on sexual harassment which is a form of bullying, but apart from this, have you ever been bullied and how did you react?

Absolutely, I was the kid in class with whom no one would sit, was exiled, tormented, never picked for games (I wore glasses and was smaller than my classmates)
the bullying stopped when I got to high school because where there were many 200 or 300 kids in my grade school, the high school had 3000! Also, I made a whole bunch of new friends who never even knew I had been bullied.
As an adult, there have been men in authority over me in the work place who attempted to harass me and I simply told them that we had a job to do and that they didn't have time for that kind of attitude! Anyway, I didn't play along!

Yes, as an adult I feel "bullied" at times by a co-worker. He tends to put me down and physically "slap" and push me around. It is very annoying and degrading. It seems to be a way for him to feel more powerful over me. I have begun to tell him to stop however it's not working that well. My next plan of action is to assert the authority of my position along with the assistance of my boss. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Yes once or twice, but i stood up to the jerk one day and punched him the mouth, he bounced back and just stood there and stared at me. right then i knew a bully wasn't nothing but a punk who is really a scared little boy. i felt so good when i laid his *** out. from then on i never let anyone push me around.

Once you stand up to a bully, the bullying stops.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

I was bullied when I was a child because of the different culture me and my family have. When I was still a child I had very much difficulty with it because I couldn't understand why me and my family were not accepted. We had never done anything wrong and we were always friendly, quiet and helpful. I didn't know how to deal with it and how to speak up for myself because I was very shy but I also didn't want others to know that they were hurting me in the way they treated me so I kept everything inside.
When I grew up I started to realize that the way I was treated had nothing to do with me but that it had to do with their incapability to open their hearts for something or someone they didn't know.
I'm a grown up now, a wife and a mother of four beautiful children but there are still people who do not accept us and who make this know by treating us with disrespect and by telling us to go back to our own country. I still do not speak up for myself I'm still shy but me being shy has nothing to do with it anymore.I have chosen to ignore them and not let them get to me because I know that it says nothing about me and my family but it says something about them. If they want to be prejudiced I let them because if people do not wish to open their hearts for you all you can do is accept it because you cannot change people if they do not want to and they do not have to like me or accept me they are allowed to like me and accept me and my family.

Yes I did. I worked for Westinghouse Savannah River Company at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina. I was bullied by management after I was injured by my supervisor. I was forced out and given a token amount of money. They have been continuing the same attacks against me by denying me of benefits. After eight years, I have not received a single cost of living raise and they have stolen over $6000 for insurance premiums from me. All of this and even more was taken away because after my injury, they asked me not to go to an outside doctor. They have made my life a living H E L L simply because of the injury costing them a lost workday case.

I was forced out; but I have a high IQ and have most of the procedures retained in my memory. I was forced to memorize most procedures because of being dyslexic. But the big waste; I am a man who should have been given an office job or teaching job. Why cast a viable worker aside, just because he wanted to have medical attention for a serious injury. I was sacked; the man who hurt me has had several nice promotions. This was a job at a Department of Energy site.
