I seems they indicated they had a bomb, but has it been confirmed they had any prohibited items?

They did not have a bomb and appearently they did not need on and the fuel on the planes did the job. They were only able to smuggle small box cutters on the plane. If it happened this way again and people on the plane actually knew what was coming things would be different.

Razor knives, or boxcutters, were not prohibited at that time. They used the knives and their numbers (eight or nine per plane) to overpower the plane.

Remember, in 30 years of air travel, the public and the flight crew were always trained to cooperate with the hijackers. They (nor any of the rest of us) had any idea that they were ready to kill themselves and so many others.

When the news of the first three planes started going out on the airwaves, people on the fourth plane were getting reports of what was happening. That is why the fourth plane did not make it to its target. They were in a fight or die situation, and they fought for their lives. How many lives did they save?

Now, when a person gets unruly on a plane, other passengers get up and help subdue the subject. Our perceptions of what to do have been changed.
