This is plain and simple.....if HE wants the divorice, then tell him that HE has to file. After all, he's the one who has the money, and he's the one who decided he no longer wants to be married. If he doesn't, then just tell him that you two will have to stay married....you're not doing a thing. Too bad if he looks like the villian!!! He's only trying to lay some kind of guilt trip on you. Don't fall for it..........

Go to your local courthouse pick up the paperwork. It's free to get the papers you're going to need yourself. If he's willing to sit down and work through the paperwork then you can file that way and it's less expensive. He might be willing to pay for it that way. There wouldn't be lawyers getting involved because it wouldn't be contested.
Courthouses usually have lawyers on hand to answer questions that won't cost you any money so you can talk to one of them too about your options if he is not willing to go that route either. Perhaps you can hire a lawyer that will be able to recover the costs from the settlement. It's rare but some might be willing to do it.
Legal aid will most likely not get involved if there are not custody issues
Good luck

You say he wants a divorce but won't follow through? There no doubt is a number of things going on with that.
1): To actually do it means to finally admit failure. While there may no longer be anything between you it still is a failure.
2): He may not want to, or know how to, begin the process.
Sure these are excuses but valid. I divorced my first wife because she found someone she thought was better. But I could not make myself start it until my new girlfriend pushed it. Even though I knew there was no other option I still could not face it.
We had been married 37 years. Hard to let go I guess.

Sounds to me like maybe he is not quit ready for that divorce yet. Maybe hes trying to incite change in you or he thinks he can have his cake and eat it to. But if divorce is the only option you are legally in titled to half of the money. If he wont give you the money just go to a lawyer and tell a lawyer. If your husband has the money he will work for you and he will make sure he gets paid.. dont let the money issue stop you tell your story to a lawyer he can help.

maybe he doesn't want to file a divorce because he still loves you. Both of you got together is a blessing so don't initial a divorce unless there is no happy times anymore. We always have ups and downs so now might be your down and by working on it .... you will be happier later on. "Every cloud has its silver linings."
