Why do conservatives so often complain about "liberal Hollywood"?

They seem to conveniently forget the fact that there are a lot of conservative celebrities out there. After all, there are Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charlton Heston, Bruce Willis, Drew Carey, Patricia Heaton, Dixie Carter, Heather Locklear, and the Rock, just to name a few.

damddirtyape: Since you complain that liberal celebrities think that their fame makes them think that they're qualified to tell others how to live, what made Arnold Schwarzenegger a candidate for governor of California?It's not as if he had a degree in political science, or anything. Ditto with Ronald Reagan.

Ok, first, Ronald Reagan was a president, not a celebrity, he used to be a small time actor, but he was not a celebrity. Second, Reagan is dead. Third, other than Arnold and Heston, it seems like you are just guessing that these other "celebrities" are conservative. Bruce Willis is Jewish, I'm sorry, but I have never heard of a conservative Jew. Fourth, Hollywood IS liberal, just like the US Government IS conservative. Even if those other people you listed were conservative, that's just six people compared to the hundreds in Hollywood. Fifth, who cares about the fu@#ing liberals and conservatives, they're both dum@$$ crackpots who ruin America.

Name for me one movie or tv series with a sympothetically portrayed politically conservative politician. I'm talking about the main character.

Examples of opposite. West Wing, Commander in Chief, An American President, Independance Day, Mr Smith goes to Washington, The Candidate, Dr. Strangelove. All of these show Ds or Ls as good caring people and/or Rs or Cs as evil or incompetent.

Let's come up with an extensive list of Good Rs or Cs.

Hollywood IS liberal! But you are absolutely correct....there are also conservative actors. And I think that you named ALL of those brave enough to be themselves!

Why, of all of the thousands of actors in Hollywood, are there only a handful of conservatives? Simple, being a Republican or being conservative with your beliefs puts a big huge stigma on you as the actor! When is the last time you saw Bruce Willis in a blockbuster? Or Drew Carey? Or Patricia Heaton????? If you are an "out of the closet" conservative in liberal Hollywood than you are automatically put on the back of the bus....so we aren't complaining about those individuals who are liberal....we are complaining about the injustice and stigmas that are attached to us just because of our belief system! Very UN-democratic if you ask me.

And that is why I complain about "liberal Hollywood". I pose this question to you.....if Hollywood is so liberal, why is it that any actor brave enough to be their true self and admit that they are a conservative is NOT hired for the great movies? Why is it that they are deemed less of an actor because of their beliefs? Very hypocritical, no?

Celebrities have a tremendous influence on their fans. When these liberal celebs make these off the cuff remarks damning our President or the Christian right or other conservatives past and present, their mind numbed fans tend to take their favorite celeb's opinion as fact. All are entiltled to their opinion, but when these celebs speak out, they conveniently omit numerous facts on all levels. It's frustrating to see the flavor of the week spout off with half truths, while their statements go largely unchecked. These same celebs, by and large, shy away from offers of open and honest debate on the subject. They'd rather propogandize through film, or false documentaries.

There are a few good conservative actors and actresses in Hollywood.

That being said, most of Hollywierd is a mixture of left wing and FAR left wing zealots that seem to think that since they are famous it makes them experts on telling everyone else how to live their lives.
