Yes, and it is also another demonstration of just how intolerant, racist, and entirely extremist they are. Islam is showing itself every day as the garbage pot that it is. Tolerance? They don't know the meaning of the word.

No it is being religious. The law as such may not be country-specific, it is your faith-specific and Sharia-specific (though this is my personal feeling only). You may not be alone thinking the way that Islamic law presents a double standard by not accepting your union. There is no contradiction in values. Without hurting someone's feelings i wish to state that Islam is just like any other religion of the World. You see these are all to be interpreted correctly within one's own community to get clearer vision towards some of the basic questions that intrigue us all from time to time. I do not think that Islam or any religion that stands for moral decency represents more repressive ideologies. And do not please link Islam to any repressive ideologies it is currently reknowned for. Get more enlightened and visit www.islam.com. It takes me back to the very basics and teaches me everythin that i wanted on the religious front. I am sure you will feel more comfortable like i did after learning more things about Islam.

Islam does not present to the world an image of tolerance and acceptance. Quite the opposite.
You were correct the first time, It is a violation of human rights. More accurately Muslim women's rights. But then that's about what we have learnt to expect.
If Islam wishes to stand for moral decency, it must stand for individual freedom - you are correct. So why are women (and not just Muslim women) treated as second class citizens in Muslin societies.

You are not correct. In Islam a muslim man is not allowed to marry any non-muslim woman. He is allowed to marry a woman from the 'people of the scripture'. 'People of the scripture' refers to the Jews and Christians. And he can only marry a true and practising jew or christian - not one by name and atheist in belief. The reason why a muslim is allowed to do so that he can eventual convert his wife to Islam - because Judaism, Christianity and Islam all come from the same source, and their teachings are the same - although the jews and christians have changed their book and their beliefs. So by marrying a jew or christian it is hoped that the wife sees the similarites between her religion and Islam, and thereby comes into Islam.
So a muslim is not allowed to marry any non-muslim - only a jew or christian.
A woman is not allowed to marry a non-mulsim - not even jew or christian. The reason being that it's the husband that influences the wife, and not the other way around . So a woman marrying a non-muslim won't have any good outcomes. She will be influenced with her husbands religion as well as her children.
It is for the benefit of the individuals that God has made rules and commandments. If God left it to individual freedom then ppl would choose what is beneficial to them in the short term and harmful in the long term.

To allow Muslim man to marry a non Muslim woman and not to allow a Muslim woman to marry a non Muslim man is not a violation.Islam forbids this because after marriage some men tend to oblige their wives to give up with Islam and believe in other religions. And all of us know that Islam is the latest and completest religion, so it would be a lost for the women to give up with this religion. Where as for a Muslim man he has no right to oblige his wife to become Muslim woman, therefore a MUSLIM man is not forbidden to marry a non Muslim woman. I read in one of the answers to this question that the Muslim woman has no right to choose the man whom she would marry and that is incorrect because Islam is too tolerant and never accepts this this. Don't judge other religions without knowing then, read the Quran and its explanation and never believe those things broad-casted by your TVs for special purposes

"Islam presents to the world an image of tolerance and acceptance"?
Only if you have the same belief that they do! Otherwise off with your head!
Who flew the airliners into the World Trade Center, Pentagon and failed in PA?
Who are the terrorist that attacked the trains in London and Spain?
S.S. Cole ring a bell?
I could go on and on but I'm sure that all of this sounds to you like I am "racist". Not true. I learn from history and treat people on a person to person basis not as a group. Has anyone heard an Islam/Muslim leader speak up world wide to apologize for what has happened in the name of Islam? Neither have I!!!

your question is so idiot sorry but this is the truth
there is no religion gives the individual freedom like Islam and read about that if you doubt
the Muslim woman is treated in Islam as a very delicate and great creation that's because she is the mother of the Muslim and that is very hard to someone like you to understand
as for the one that you will marry she accepted to marry from a forbidden man for her that's OK once she marry you then she will be considered as non Muslim girl so no problem to marry her ISLAM not in need for such one that want a man more than her religion
silly girl your answer and your mind is so silly like you

In islam, it's forbidden to get marry to a non muslim woman/man. In Islam you have to marry a muslim woman/man. There isn't any single tolerance about it, like you said that muslim woman can marry a non muslim man. Your perception about Islam having double standard its totally can't be accepted. Its not the Islam way that your muslim wife practice all along.

Jeff Catholics are Christians *sigh*.
As for whether or not this violates human rights with your wife, it really has nothing to do with that. It is based on her families faith.
Also I think Muslims feel it is easier to convert a woman than a man, so if the son marries a Jewish person or a Christian they have a bette chance of this.
If the daughter does they don't.

I understand what you are saying, but Islam's sole purpose is to have as many followers as possible, as they believe that Allah is the one and only god. Islamic law states that if a Muslim male marries a non-Muslim woman, she must immediately convert to Islam. This and polygamy, mean that the number of the followers of Islam can rise dramatically. I am led to believe that they forbid a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man, because it does not promote the growth of Islam.

The UK bans bigamy. I personally think it is nobodies business how many people i am married to, but the UK govt thinks they know best. Another violation of my rights.
Islam has quite a strong set of beliefs and morals, though these do not all translate to the modern world.
