stomach ulcers have been linked with bacterium, heliobactor - has she been tested and treated for this? The ulcer is a weak spot on the stomach wall which allows hydrochloric acid of pH 1-2 access to the tissue and hence the pain. Foods that increase the acidity of the stomach should be avoided. Fatty or oily foods need a lot more HCl for the stomach to begin breaking them down into smaller molecules. Spices irritate the nerves in a similar way to heat, and thus will irritate the wound of an ulcer. Antacids that counter act or neutralise acid are good in short term but stomach detects increased pH (raising pH is reducing the acidity - the lower the pH the more acidic the solution is) and produces more acid to compensate.
Complex carbohydrates, eg veg, pasta etc, with low fat/protein accompaniements will lessen discomfort but not remove it.
See a specialist.

avoid spicy foods and foods that irritate your stomach in particular. You should avoid mints as well if you get reflux with it, as mints can prolong it.
Licorice root is a specific for curing ulcers, and I use it in combination with Marshmallow root which is also wonderfully soothing. However, if you have heart issues as well, take Cinnamon instead in combination with the Marshmallow and avoid the Licorice root. Visit windstarhealing.com if you have any questions!
Hope i helped

Ehm..
The food that you swallow travels down your throat and is pushed by contractions of the muscular esophagus. In the area where the esophagus joins the stomach a valve-like mechanism, known as lower esophageal sphincter (LES), is located. The closure of this muscle prevents stomach acid from backing up, or refluxing, into the esophagus. LES malfunction is the first factor that causes and contributes to gastro-esophageal reflux disease. In a healthy individual, the LES relaxes only when food passes from the esophagus into the stomach. After the food passes into the stomach, the valve shuts off, keeping the stomach content and acid inside. However, when the LES is weak and doesn't close properly, acid can splash up into your throat causing painful burning sensation, called heartburn.

A good natural method to cure your acid reflux can be found on this site http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=568

I find onions, citrus fruits, (the only fruit I can eat is plums, grapes and Cherry's) coffee, citrus fatty foods, alcohol and chocolate, peppers and curries upset my ulcer.
I have found these out by trial and error.

I tend to eat a lot of bland food, like chicken and ham.

I find rich food also upset my stomach.

Hope this helps.

If you haven't already had a test for helicobacter pylori get one. If you have this bug that is probably what is causing the ulcers and you need to take special antibiotics to get rid of it. Once you are rid of the h pylori you will heal fast - otherwise you won't heal well. Once rid of the bug you should not get more ulcers.
