The foods most commonly cited as potential harmful to pregnant women are raw or undercooked fish and eggs, fish high in mercury, soft cheese like feta and brie, sprouts, unpasteurized beverages, sushi, and of course...too much junk food!

Tea and coffee with caffeine should be limited but they won't hurt the baby in moderate amounts, like 2 cups a day. I always just drink mostly decaf everything when pregnant but I don't stress out about a cup of caffeine here or there. Studies have shown that light to moderate consumption is not associated with any fetal harm.

There's all kinds of information out there -- and you can go crazy trying to make sense of it all. Instead, try focusing on the nutrients that you need to build a healthy baby--plenty of vegetables, milk, wholegrains, etc.

I limited myself to 1 or 2 (regular sized) cups of coffee and gave up soda because of the caffeine and aspartame. I also gave up tuna and any fish with high levels of mercury (also had to give up sushi). Really though, I think anything in moderation is fine.

The baby is absorbing the vitamins and nutrients from the food you eat, so feed your baby well. Caffeine is a drug the same as alcohol or nicotine, that's why it is bad to drink it while pregnant. Anything you eat or drink will go right to the baby. If you get upset or stressed, that affects the baby too.

You shouldn't drink tea or soda's because of the caffeine but my mom limited herself to one a day. You should avoid fishy stuff and alot of sweets are bad too but they have books for that kind of thing. You might want to get one just incase.

Caffeine is not good, and neither are processed foods full of preservatives. Also, depending on where you live, fish intake should be limited. Eat whole foods, ie. whole grains, meats, fresh fruits and veggies.

they say to avoid farm-raised fish due to high mercury levels, caffeine (coffee, chocolate, tea, etc) and the number one my doctor said was to avoid anything dietetic (especially diet soda!)
