The Japanese Anime I like:
Fushigi Yugi (Mysterious Play): I own the whole cartoon series, including the OAVs.
Ranma 1/2: I like it because it makes me laugh, and keeps me laughing! Still collecting this one.
Card Captor Sakura: If you want the full-bodied story, the Japanese version was best, though I had to read subtitles. Still collecting this one as well.
I also love Hayao Miyazaki's films, and my favorites are: Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. I know they're recent, but I'm still looking for his older anime films. I think Akira is one of his directed films, but I'm not sure.

I agree with Sprited Away and I really liked Howl's Moving Castle also by Hayao Miyazaki. I have also been told that Castle in the Sky is really good, but I haven't seen it yet.
