Don't you think his drunken remarks are interesting, especially since he vehemently denied charges of anti-Semitism after "The Passion of the Christ" was released?

Nietschze sneezes: I don't think that minorities should wallow in self-pity. However, even though the Holocaust took place over 60 years ago and the Jews now have their own homeland, anti-Semitism is still a major problem, just like racism and sexism are. Ignoring these problems won't make them go away.

I saw "The Passion of the Christ", too, and it didn't lead me to believe that Mel Gibson was an anti-Semite. What led me to believe that he is an anti-Semite were his drunken remarks.

There is a proverb that "out of the heart overflows to the mouth"basically that shite would not come out of my mouth no matter if I was drunk,I would not be spewing racist or homophbic crap because I do not feel that way,I love The passion and he is human and can be forgiven, but anti-sematism is not acceptable from anyone!Oh and What moron thinks we should forget because of ww2,should we forget slavery and The Holocaust and September 11th?You can try to heal but not forget, that is a slap in the face to all humans, including the massacre of women and children at Wounded Knee.P.SHe does need a Brake to stop!and a break?Maybe!

I think this is being blown all out of proportion. The media and some hollywood types didn't like the Passion of Christ. They were jealous of the money he made and the popularity of his film. So when Mel has a bad moment getting arrested for drunk driving and saying very inappropriate remarks (probably not even knowing what he was saying) these same jealous media and hollywood types jump for joy and start this hate mongering thing against him.
The movie industry seems to be anti-Christian and whenever a Christian is portrayed in films, they're usually crazy or dumb hicks. They are relishing all this Mel bashing. I feel more passion for Mel than the bashers. Everyone is allowed at least one mistake. His career shouldn't be ruined for this.

I think ultimately Mel Gibson needs help with his alcoholism. People don't drink like that unless there is something wrong with them. He needs some counselling. I think his troubles probably relate to this. In our natural state, I believe that we know that there's no room for anti- anything. Having conflicting feelings about other cultures isn't normal... especially when it is a culture that has ensured so much harship. We need to repect that fact that Mel Gibson is old, and was more closely related to anti-semitism than the youth represented in these chat rooms. He has problems as a result of violence he has been allowed to see and endure. He doesn't need to be thrown to the dogs.
Mel is an old man who has visions, that are outdated, of the world that no longer hold true. Do I want to think what he said is valid? I think I, and many others, are smart enough to understand that his time is in the past.. He is a historical document, neither good nor bad, just another part of our living record. I think the media needs to stop giving us "news" that promotes our feelings of being "different" in society.

We all do and say retarded things when drunk. I doubt he's actually an anti-semite. Haven't you ever said something stupid that you didn't mean? He's already apologized for his behavior- twice- what does he have to do to convince some people that he's not against Jews? Go kiss one?
And the Passion of the Christ didn't 'make Jews look responsible for killing Jesus.' Nearly everyone in the story IS Jewish, minus Pilate. Pilate refused to be responsible for the death sentence, so that means technically, 'the Jews' did kill him- but Jesus and his followers were Jewish too. It was just the leaders, who thought Jesus was feeding the people a lot of subversive crap, and was planning a takeover. They were just doing what they thought was right for the people, which, in the end, was killing Jesus.
Everyone in the story is Jewish, ipso facto, the person who demands that Jesus is killed MUST be Jewish too. Why the heck didn't Mel throw in a fictional gentile to do it? That anti-semite! Who does he think he is, going with the story, set in ISRAEL as it was? Geez.

Anti-Semeitic is thrown around WAY too much these days. WW2 was a long time ago and they don't need special attention anymore. I wish all groups and races would just get over their self pitty on history and move on. Why do you care what Mel Gibson thinks of anything? He's hasn't been in the spotlight for a decade now. This is just propeganda to keep the simple minds in line for the next war. Do trols like Gibson now too?

Mel and Richards are "celebrities" and within the highlight so after they make those feedback its heard world wide inside hours. I suppose we must give up hanging "celebrities" on pedestals and making their phrases appear extra priceless than others. You know the way many folks generally make those feedback on a day-to-day groundwork. Just due to the fact a celeb mentioned it does not make it any worse. They had been each fallacious for pronouncing it but when we were not so Hollywood obsessed then those feedback might have long past unheard, however I wager we cannot simply sweep disorders below the rug so possibly its well that it is out within the open. I hate while matters like this occur due to the fact then you'll be able to consider the rip in society and for a couple of days it turns into US AGAINST THEM!!!

I really don't think Mel in anti-Semitic - I also don't think that what people say when drinking tends to be their true feelings.

Nope, I have said some really awful things when i have been drunk that I did not mean (honestly never had even the thought crossed my mind on the things i said before i said them). I used to think that when you were drunk you said what you really wanted to say, but while drunk 1 little thing can set you off to say and think things that you never would.
