I just bought a dell lattitude D820 and last night for the first time when I was ripping a CD it started making this *unusually* loud rumbling noise as it began to rip each track and then after a bit it began to just rumble constantly. I quit the process until I could find out if it was messed up or not. Does anyone know what's going on?

there's nothing wrong its just that laptops make more noise than stationary computers. Its because they are soo small. I burn cds all the time on mine and my laptop didnt break. Relax, its fine

Have you tried with a different cd? It could be that the cd wasn't properly in place or the drive had difficulty with that cd. Try again with a different brand of cd - if the loud you described continues the problem is with the drive.
