I just bought a dell lattitude D820 and I've already gotten some dust on the keyboard and fingerprints on the screen. How can I go about safely cleaning it, and how often should I do it?

the recommended way to clean the screen is with alcohol, I buy wipes at an office supply store. They're pricey but soft, don't scratch the screen and leave no residue. Be especially careful if you have a soft screen. I wouldn't use windex because it has ammonia in it.

And I'd use a small vacuum on the keyboard. However I have on occasion sucked off a keycap or two, and had to retrieve it from the bag. So I suggest you purchase one of those small vacuums made especially for computers, they cost about 10 dollars at a computer or office supply store.

u clean the screen with a paper towel sprayed with windex. Don't spray the windex directly on the screen. To clean the keyboard go to a office srore ( staples, Office Max, ect ) and buy a bottle of compressed air that u can spray onto the keyboarde and spray off all the dust. That should do it!

im not sayin i disagree with wat the other peeps said but i would not use windex on my laptop screen but u can use a damp cloth but i usually us my saliavia on a soth cloth and the wipe the screen. as for the keyboard its not best to use compressed air becuz it will blow the dirt particles further into the keyboard(fa finger prints do the same as cleanin the screen)but u can use a vaccum attachment to suck the dirt particles out thats wat i do and it works well
