Children go through developmental stages at roughly the same time. That's not always true though, and how they're nurtured plays a part. I teach cursive handwriting, and the differences in handwriting from one student to another are really something.

It is truly amazing that there can be so many different styles of handwriting, and that often you can tell who wrote something, simply by looking at the writing! It has partly to do with fine motor skills, which vary from one individual to another. But it is also an expression of individuality. Whether done consciously or unconsciously, our handwriting represents us. And this is true even if two people have been taught by the same person. Even twins can have different handwriting. It simply seems to be one of those inherent traits, like blue eyes or brown eyes, that simply become part of the child.

nope that handwriting stuff is almost as unique as the fingerprint.

each person uses their fingers and wrists differently so the flow of writing and shapes of the letters are different.

this also happens to the same person depending on how they feel, age, if there's a disease happening in the bones, fingers, temperature, stress... if they're on medication.. if they've been hurt...
if they're in a hurry... arthritis will change a persons handwriting over time.. any health reason.. being drunk... length of nails...

teachers can teach you how to make those letters the proper way but how you do it is how the hand responds and your perception of the letters... so on. the mind the way it reacts to this input.. so on.

for instance i had great handwriting very clear script... very nice print handwriting also.. all those years of architecture class...

but now i'm on medications.. had a injury to my wrist years ago and my fingers shake a little bit and now my handwriting and block writing (the print style) has changed so much some thought there was a forgery going on or it was another person.

nope it was me!

i know someone who has the loveliest handwriting i wish i could do it like he does so beautiful.... i hate to think some day that may change to age or something as he gets older.

i hope this helps.

The teacher teaches you how to hold the pen the right way and how to form the letters correctly as in plain or cursive writing. Writing is a fine motor skill that requires each person to manipulate and gain control over the pen when writing. It is a skill which with practice over time becomes better. Each individual has his or her own style of writing and the skill of various strokes and how one manipulate the pen is what results in a good handwriting piece and a different style of writing where forming the curves of letters such as g or f etc. may be different.

Just the same as my way of driving a car is different from someone else, despite having the same driving instructor. Even twins would drive a car differently from each other. I was going to use sex as an example, but gave it up as a bad idea!!

i wanted to answer this question in funny way, but then i thought its really a great question, now the answer might be that the teacher only told us how to hold the pen or pencil, but we discovered our own way of holding the pens in which we felt comfortable, now handwriting is like many other things which arent same for every person, we learn to write in many years so in thse so many years we made our own natural habits, way of talking, way to react, and WAY OF WRITING.

Teacher only teaches how to do it. Does not control slant, pressure on pen, flow of letters or how they're made.
