Jaws. Because it kept MILLIONS of people out of the water the year it was released.
Seeing this movie on TNT or whatever doesn't give the full impact of seeing it for the 1st time on the big screen.
Also, it was ranked #1 scariest movie by the American Film Institute.

If you asked me this question 3 months ago, my answer would have been the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.. It doesn't really show alot of blood and gore.. and leaves most of what's happening to your imagination.. and I believe that there is nothing that you can see in a movie that is scarier than what your imagination can come up with

BUT.. that would have been 3 months ago. The current scariest movie I have ever seen is.... The Hills Have Eyes.. that movie scared the bejesus out of me.. I had to watch it 3 times... just to be able to see everything I covered my eyes for..

I am a HUGE fan of horror.. and I have NEVER covered my eyes for anything.

I would say Halloween, but i can understand why so many choose The Exorcist, it is a little known fact that the makers of the movie inserted single frames of horrific pictures which subliminally cause fear in viewers and you were never aware of it. So hats off to them for creating an ultimate fear but I choose Halloween, hands down.
