SLH is correct, NO job should require you to pay to work! Even if it is convenient. My employer and a good many employers have discovered that a well organized work from home program is AMAZING for career satisfaction, life balance and flexible working.
About.Com did a fantastic what to avoid in home work scams article.
I provide job leads for all types of people who's positions were laid of. Some of those were full time telecommuters, and their favorite resources are consolidated on the A-Z Career Guide created by subject matter experts on the Helping Friends career network. How to get the jobs, what to avoid, etc. Corporate professional jobs are not always advertised, however by studying the industry and knowing how to represent yourself you can avoid scams and present yourself as a legitimate home worker with a legitimate home job! Good luck in your efforts!

You should guard yourself before any investment you make in life. Home-based businesses are not all scams, but you should do your research. Most will have a start up fee. There is ALWAYS an investment when you want to start your own home-based business. However, the higher the expense the more in depth I would research the company. Ask for more information. If they will not provide it, move on quickly.
