First Period signs: developing small breasts, pubic hair and some cramping. On average, a girl's first period usually comes 2 to 2 1/2 years after the first sign of puberty (breast development is usually the first sign of puberty, but sometimes pubic hair comes first). However, some normal girls will get their first periods less than a year or more than 3 years after the first sign of puberty.

I've had different signs:
1) I get really bloated the week before it should start.
2) My gums used to bleed.
3) Weak cramps without any flow.
4) Pessimistic attitude.
5) Bigger boobs.
-it's also good, if you have a consistent cycle, to remember when your last period started and count 28 days from that. That's what I try to do, though I do allow and give or take of 2 days.

Usually my symptoms include cramping in the lower abdomen, irritibility (snapping at people at the drop of a hat, feeling like crying over nothing, etc.), and bloating. Sometimes about a week before I start my period, the gland under my right arm will be a little sore or my breasts will be unusually tender.

Your body starts undergoing changes: your breasts start to grow, you grow hair in places on your body you never had hair before, you may experience some cramping in the lower part of your stomach on either side, you may start having some discharge on your underwear. Every girl is different and if you can't ask your mother or another female family member, a school nurse is always a good person to ask.

My stomach starts to pain a little, my breasts tingle and sometimes are extremely painful all the time, and even my upper thighs feel like they are full of jell-o and makes it feel like I can't walk. My lower back feels it too, but it's unnoticeable once the other symptoms kick in. And once in awhile, I get headaches that last the 3 to 5 days before mine start.

snappy - edgy, moody, teary. Breasts tender - lower back or belly discomfort. Sometimes more discharge. It's easier to just keep track of your cycle, then when you notice some of this stuff, you'll know what's happening.

Bloating, pants fit tighter than normal.
Aches and pain in lower belly or back.
Mood swings.
Zits, more than normal.
Craving for salty things or chocolate.
That's all I can think of.

Cramping in your lower abdomen, tender breasts, urge for chocolate, moodiness, weepy. These are mine but I think most women have the same.
