If it is family and supporters of Hezbollah how can they be innocent? If they choose to fight from neighborhoods isn't it their fault if innocents die?

While my views are at variance with international law on the subject, I am of the view that there is no such thing as an innocent civilian, and I will explain.

Why is it that a solider on the front lines with a rifle, who may kill one, or two, or even a handful of people at a time is considered fair game, but Rosie the Riveter back home building bombs or cruise missiles that can kill hundreds at a time is not?

Now take this reasoning one step farther. Suppose Rosie is not involved in munitions manufacture at all. Suppose she is not a civilian administrator of some sort at the Pentagon either. Let's say she is a school teacher in Boise. Still, her taxes contribute to the nation's capacity to wage war. Whether she voted for the war administration or not, she participated in the political system that brought that administration to power. And, she is helping to educate the next generation of soldiers, bomb builders, and pentagon administrators. If she has children, she is actually producing that next generation, and those children are that next generation who will comprise the nation's capacity to fight a war.

A nation's capacity to fight wars is based upon its total human and economic resources, whether they are all involved in the military-industrial complex or not. Whether you support a war or not, your labors at something entirely unrelated frees someone else in your society to be a part of the war effort. Accordingly, at least in my view, you are also a legitmate target.

Ironically, Israel, a state founded in part as a gesture of recompense for the "war crimes" visited upon the Jews of Europe, now finds itself running afoul of some of the same things that Nazis were convicted of in Nuremburg. Not the death camps mind you, which is a somewhat different issue, what I might call crimes against humanity, but not all Nazi war criminals, nor Japanese war criminals for that matter were tried for non-military atrocities. I have no trouble, mind you, with the notion that we should have rounded up the most heinous of the barbarians in the Nazi regime at the end of the war and shot them--that's simply war. Where I differ with what transpired is that we afforded them the dignity of a trial as some sort of salve to our democratic pretentions.

There are rarely any war crimes committed by winners of conflicts, and as long as Israel keeps winning, which I hope they do, their fate will be thus. If they are overrun at some point, the prosecutions will begin--not because they are necessarily guilty of anything worse than prosecutiing a war, but because they will have failed to prosecute it successfully.

I am reminded of a U.S. submarine commander in WWII whose nickname was Wahoo something or other. He was very successful at sinking a number of Japanese commercial vessels during the war, which served to interdict Japan's supply lines, and for his efforts he was awarded, as I recall, the Navy Cross or some such high honor.

Now, contrary to the Geneva Convention governing submarine warfare, which dictates that if at all feasible the submarine is obliged to aid or assist the crews of commercial vessels they have sunk, Wahoo had a habit of trolling about the scene of the sinkings machine-gunning the survivors that they might not be rescued by the Japanese and returned to duty on other commercial vessels.

Some might call this a war crime, and in the strict sense of the law, if probably was as the United States was certainly a signatory of the applicable treaty. However, we won that war, and for my money, in no small part because old Wahoo rightly understood that what he was doing furthered cripplied Japan's war effort.

This is not to say that I do not feel some compassion for the Japanese sailors on those commercial vessels who lost their lives when no mercy was granted them in a state of complete vulnerability. Likewise, those impoverished Palestinians who lacked the resources to flee the war zone, but may or may not have been supporters of Hezbollah also have my sympathy.

War is a very hard thing, and produces all sorts of victims, but punishment, with rare exceptions, does not attach to the victors.

I do not comprehend the way you thinkink or think the President Bush is getting cash on account that of struggle casualties. We are not within the fifteenth or sixteen century while armies amassed at the battlefields and charged one a further. A couple of squaddies provoked the incident, however the "truly enemy" has introduced over one million, two hundred missiles - what style of lifestyles might you've gotten if - whenever you went out, you'll be attacked via a missile. They aren't 500 blameless lives - they selected to to help a terrorist organization. They can have been pressured to stay wherein they have been - however that is how matters occur there.

I think Hezbollah took a big risk bye attacking Israel. Hezbollah don't care how many people are being killed, they only want power! They are using the same tactics like Hamas, to control power..
They don't care if Jews kill Lebanese people...they only want power...
I think Israel have the right to defense himself; but I think he must have used another tactic to do this, because in my opinion, they act as Hezbollahh really wanted they do! Make Israel look bad and they the good poor guys!
Hezbolla organization is a killing people organization they doesn't respect the right of other people who aren't shytas.

... in the usa WE elect our officials , WE ARE THE "government by the people", our leaders are OUR representatives and do what WE want them to do[ lol], their policies are our policies... so when someone flies a plane into 1 of our buildings in retaliation for our leaders foreign policies ..do any "innocent" people get killed?...
.....isreal has a right and obligation to defend "herself" but what is going on now BY BOTH SIDES [ and all who support or get involved in any way] is unbelievably shameful and inhumane!
... the end is near folks, time to choose sides... and cheney/bush are soldiers of satin!

I would not allow Hazbollerajha to use my women and children as human shields. I do feel bad for the dead, but it is not Israel's fault. Hazbollerajha is killing Israel's women and children too you know!

You're too rational. You should read more propaganda. No one likes people who actually make sense.
