Has anyone had any luck with eating spicy foods, sex, walking, cohosh, nipple stimulation....or any other form of trying to bring on labor? I have read a lot about it - and just wanted to hear from some real people if they think it actually works. I am 37 weeks, I understand baby will come when ready - Just curious?

Nope! I eat spicy foods all the time (well, not this preg due to heartburn, but last preg), had plenty of sex, definately walked, tried nipple stimulation, took and inserted Evening Primrose Oil, and drank a pregnancy tea that had Red Raspberry Leaf and cohosh, as well as a lot of other stuff. I was nearly induced at 42 weeks. Actually, I went into labor a few hours before my induction.

People right now are swearing by walking up and down stairs. I've had some problems with early contractions (not quite preterm labor because there was no cervical change, but I was having painful contractions 2 min apart) and after coming off of bedrest I ended up having to go up and down some stairs (you know, 'cause I couldn't very well stay up there) and I did end up with some light contractions for about an hour. I guess that might mean it's worth a try, but again, I seem to be at high risk for contractions, so it might not work if your body is refusing to go into labor anyway.

One of the Dr.'s I work with swears by the sex/prostaglandins thing, but everyone else in the office laighed at it. You can always request and induction from your doc. Once you're past 34 weeks the baby's lungs are fully developed and the rest of the pregnancy is just fatening them up. Your body may not be ready before then though, which is where the theories on ripening the cervix come from, also remember that when the baby comes you get no more rest. Every expectant Mom gets the fever the last couple months, if you push it you may regret it in the long run.

The sex thing worked for me and my husband. Nipple stimulation works as well. We have four children. No more are planned!! Good luck and remember to get all the rest you can now. Once your bundle of joy gets here, you will sleep no more.

my friend just went to the doc for a check up and baby came within hours. so just schedule an appointment for somewhere in 39th week and all that messing down there might make baby come.

You are a little too young to think about reproduction. 37 weeks and on the net! Wow!

LMAO @ Chaz....

I dunno - rachel from friends tried all those thing except sex - then went into labour about 2 secs before having sex....

and that chick that had the black baby in Nip/Tuck went into labour after insisting that that guy shag her....

You never know - plus you get to eat spicy food and have sex - where's the question?

None of that ever worked for me. Sorry! I even took a bumpy Jeep ride when my daughter was two weeks late. That didn't even work. LOL
