No it's not a crime. It might become a crime if someone were purposely trying to impersonate someone they were not, however. For example, a 40 year old man creating a Yahoo ID and avatar with the intention of passing himself off as a teenage girl in order to gain the confidence of young girls. Unfortunately, even that doesn't become a crime until something nasty happens.

I don't think it's a crime, but I find it a bit dodgy, if you don't mind me saying so.
Why can't you just be yourself? Is there something freakishly wrong with you? Do you have a self esteem issue? Are you trying to con someone into something?
If you just be yourself then these questions won't arise.

Don't know how anyone could make a false character or do you mean people who have different accounts and IDs?

I shouldn't imagine so. Is it a crime that the default Icon you are using for this question doesn't look like you?
If it does look like you then I think you need some face cream :)

I think that if you use the false character to do something devious, it is a crime....http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/printall.html.....you can check and read and decide for yourself here. good luck.P.S., I don't think it does any harm if they know it is you, and you are just using alias', but I am going to read that better myself!

Good question - Yahoo! crimes are too numerous to be contained here. But don't worry, there will be some tight*** will report you for mostly anything...

I hope not. The little cartoon goth girl I use looks nothing like me... I wish she did but I'm just not as cartoonish as her.
