To define Computer Security, first we must know what will the computer security protects. Computer Security is related to an Automated Information System (AIS).
An AIS is any assembly of electronic equipment, hardware, software, and firmware configured to collect, create, communicate, disseminate, process, store, and control data or information.
With this in mind, we could define the meaning of computer security : Computer security has always been and always will be a complex subject. It is broadly characterized as protection against unauthorized disclosure or modification of sensitive information, or denial of service, but is more than that; Computer security includes the protection of data, networks and computing power: So we could define that computer security means to protect and assure the confidentiality (secrecy or privacy), integrity (accuracy or authenticity), and availability (accessibility or reliability) of automated information systems and the data they contain.

Hi, there are many adware/spyware/virus in the internet, so your computer is no longer secure. How you prevent your computer form these virus is a matter of computer security.
so, you need to install aome anti-virus software to protect your computer. such as Norton, McAfee
i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.
firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spywareware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

Your computer should come with a firewall, or perhaps a software package came bundled with your purchase that includes a firewall. It's basically a set of programs that work together to enforce the safety rules you outline when you choose a security level. The firewall is the gatekeeper for Internet activity.
The backdoor may take the form of an installed program , or could be a modification to an existing program or hardware device. A specific form of backdoor is a rootkit, which replaces system binaries and/or hooks into the function calls of an operating system to hide the presence of other programs, users, services and open ports. It may also fake information about disk and memory usage.
