You can get free Sims 2 objects at http://www.thesimsresource.com You just have to register and you have access to all of the thousands of FREE files.
You don't have access to the pay files, but you do have access to the free files. Every 3 days they rotate their free files, so if you check back often, you can download lots of free stuff.

I think MTS2 has some of the best objects/downloads you can find online. You have to register to be able to download anything, but registering is free. They also have themed sets (which I think are better than the addon sets from EA).

I would try going to SIMS.com first. You need the main web site to have any faith in who you are communicating with.
It is Always better to type the web address in your address bar than to click on ANY LINK.
Look on your SIMS cd case for a web address.
