Am I the only person (I'm a writer, BTW) who uses the form of "speedwriting" called Forkner shorthand?

I do. Shorthand is a quick way of writing. These words are represented by a simple stroke and symbols.

Early shorthand was first used in 63BC. Modern Shorthand was invented by Pitman in 1837 and a system devised by Gregg has been in use in the Us since 1888.

Probably. My bet is you're over 40.
There is no need for shorthand since the invention of the tape recorder. I don't know anyone under the age of 50 that knows shorthand. That's the way it should be.

I've never heard of that one. I used Pitman 2000 but I have used it so little these days, thanks to audio-tape, that it's a lost skill for me.
