The earthquake was a magnum 7.7 off the coast of Java. The was a major disaster because according to a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Coordinating Agency, at least 660 deaths occurred, with as many as 323 missing and more than 51,500 displaced (homeless). There was at lease 22 aftershocks and it cause a 3 meter high tsunami that hit 110-mile stretch of beach, which was really bad because this part was unaffected by the devastating 2004 tsunami which they are still recovering from. At least 23,000 people had to evacuate.

Big plates under earth move, make earth shake , many people die. big buildings fall down, lots of things go boom.
