Are Open University degrees considered valid degrees and has it given you an advantage in your job or career?

Yes, they are considered valid degrees; in fact most companies will consider them better than fulltime degrees, because you have to be self-motivated and good at getting work completed on time without too much nagging to get an OU degree.
I've started an MBA with the OU, and it's definitely something that companies are impressed by.

Wanted to do a OU degree but has not got the dedication. I would think it would be an advantage to their career and confidence.

I'd agree with everything Valerie-Ann says, and also that the OU is one of the top ten British universities, which comes as a surprise to most people.

I did my BA in literature and history with the OU, and loved it. I hope to do a Masters degree with them when my son goes to school.
It's definitely worth doing.

In my experience doing a course at home is very hard, much better if you can do it at college or uni part time, at least you are with other people, and its easier to ask question, not get stuck, and go and watch tv instead.
