i know that every fetus starts out as a FEMALE before the presence of a tiny Y chromosome changes that.

You basically hit upon it yourself. Because every baby is given an x chromosome from the woman, and an x or a y from the male, the males have the chromosome that causes nipples from their mother. However, since males also received the male y from their father, they are male, and therefore, the nipples have no function. They cannot produce milk, no mammary glands. They won't grow, (unless you are obese, and they enlarge from fat tissue). Just a symbol of the fact that you are a man born of a woman. See, women don't have that symbol that a man had something to do with our birth, unless you count the clitoris, but then again, no, because that would mean that the equivalent would be sexual pleasure in the male nipples. However, some do claim pleasure from them, so maybe that's it.

Scientifically the function is Nil. Nipples are only unused raw material of human body, because the being is a male.

Otherwise they are just extra fittings. Charming possession, pleasure giving, source of joy in piercing a ring.Sp.for the Gays

And, as a marking point, for surgeons who perform breast implants on males wanting to become travsversites.
