Some societies are plagued by socio-cultural diseases like CASTE.

It is time to cure societies from these deseases. India, among a handful other countries, is an example of existence of one such disease, CASTE.

Can anyone rationalize that a person can be born into a profession and into an untouchable group? Its a shame on followers of Caste System that in the name of ancient civilization, religion, scriptures and tradition, people today still support such grossly barbaric and inhuman practice.

I don't agree with the Indian caste system, as I am American. However, the people of India are free to run their society as they see fit.

Something to think about though: We have a caste system here in the States, it's called "socioeconomic class". You have the "priveledged few" (upper class), the "propertied elite" (middle class), and the "trailer trash" (lower class).

Most of the priveledged few are very Republican because it protects their financial interests, and they don't have to show compassion for those underneath them.

The propertied elite are too busy keeping up with and competing with each other in order to secure their place in society.

And the "trailer trash" (applies to all races, btw)? Some of them have just given up trying to compete and live off the system. Others attempt to live their lives to the fullest (good on them!), and usually end up in trouble with the law for daring to think outside the box.

We should start worrying about our problems at home, I think.

It is a shame. But we should not cast stones, because we have similar behaviors in American society. We stratify ourselves economically, racially, ethnically, by religion and education. The difference is we do not acknowledge it, hiding b behind "political correctness."

I agree with u. Caste system is a shame. Education will go a long way in removing it.
