I've managed 9, you start with the number on the top corner and go round clockwise.

I think you must mean "1-21"? Or maybe "(2 on a side)"? There are only 14 numbers from 1 to 14, and three on each side of a heptagon makes twenty-one!

The thing about math is, if you screw the question up, you have almost no hope of getting the answer right!

To Thin Kaboudit. A heptagon with 3 numbers on each side only requires fourteen numbers because the numbers at each corner are shared by two sides.

I can't be arsked to spend the time to work out this arithmetical problem, however, most of the responses are laughable in their simplicity and ignorance.

A heptagon has seven angles and seven sides. If you place one number at each angle and one in the centre of each side this requires 14 numbers, not 21 as some arithmetical insulter concluded!

Looking at one side you will see 3 numbers; one in the centre of the side and one at each end (at the angle). The numbers at the angles are used for two sides, not just one. Thus the question makes perfect sense, which is more than can be said of the respondents! Party on dude!
