I don't think it is a cover, since Jordan is credited as one of the writer/lyricists for the song. He did put out two versions..one as a solo performance, the other with LL Cool J.

btw...the actual title is "Get It on Tonite"

It is definitely a cover, because I remember the original was miles better and it came out at least a year before Montell Jordan's. But I can't remember his name. I know he was in a group, then went solo but I can't remember his name. Sorry.
