my good friend ronny died in the mid 1990s,i wasnt around at the time to say goodbye, he was in his mid thirtys and died of cancer, he lived in basildon, essex but came from london. ive tried to find out where his remains are but to no avail at the moment, if anyone can help i would be so grateful. He was a doorman in basildon for a while and then went into debt collection. I know that the funeral was quite big, but i just couldnt be there. please help if you can. thanks very much.

I am just in the process of tracing family history myself, there are quite a few options open to you.You could ask friends, check the obituarys in the paper in basildon,as he had cancer, was he cared for at a hospice or rest home.He seems to have spent a lot of time in Basildon, other doormen may have known him.
you can check births deaths marrage records known as BDM on 1837.com buy 50 points for £5.The local council would have burial records and proberbly a plot number if he was buried. He may have had a private burial in which case i think approaching the family would be best, to pay your respects,If there is anyway else i can be of assistance i can be contacted via E-mail.Good luck hope this helps .Terry

why dont you try phoning the local papers and ask if they have any details cause sometimes familes put info about they loved ones in the back including dates and times of funerals .If not I would say try and contact some of the local undertakers and see if they can help in any way ,sorry I can not be of any more help to you

I know its never easy to ask but could you not contact another of his close friends or family?
I'm sure they'll understand you wanting to show your respects.
The only other option is to trawl some of the churches / crems for records or local newspaper archives to check for the announcements around the time he passed away.

Good luck

If you know the date of the death, check the local papers for where the service was and possibly where he was buried.
