I've travelled all over the world and in doing so have met many Aussies. There seemed to be a few hostelling wherever I went. They are no more arrogant than Americans, actually less. They are a pretty confident lot, which can be mistaken for arrogance or cockiness. Outgoing and optimistic as well. Of course there is a dark side to the history of the country itself, with the Aborigines and other racial problems. Bit like the US. But as individuals, I've liked the ones I've met.

That's an undeserved stereotype. I've known a few Aussies, both in business and personally, and what is often mistaken for arrogance (especially by we Brits) is actually optimism and "can do". "She'll be right" is the real Aussie outlook. Of course there are arrogant people who are Australian, just as there are for every other nationality. But the ones I've known have been great.

Naahhhhhhhhhhh mate, we are very simple people.... We all come from different parts of the globe and we tried to bring the best things with us and leave the bad behind.
Of course you'll find some cocky and arrogant, but remember .... not all the fingers in a hand are the same..

I've met loads of Australians and have never met any that are cocky or arrogant, unlike other nationalities. I have always found them very friendly and very nice.

The Aussies are super people! I had one as a best friend some years ago, and when I went there to see her, everyone was so warm and friendly. They are 'up front' and honest, and as thats the way I am, maybe that suuited me better, it could be the more sensitive souls amongst us find them harder to deal with?

There are some Aussies that are loud and ignorant, they are called "Ockers" Even most Aussies do not like them. Most of the Aussies I have met are very friendly and caring. I have only met 2 that were k**bheads.

i like australians! they're extremely nice and friendly! they dont seem arrogant to me!
