The NANO 2 gig. The 4 gig is only $50 cheaper than the 30 Gig full size iPod. It's mid-range which is usually the best area to buy from when talking anything technology for Money

I have the iPod nano 2gb version and it's perfect. I currently have 219 songs of which most are over 4-5 minutes in length and I still have about 1gb left of space.

It's extremely lightweight, I forget it's in my pocket half the time, the charge lasts for ages and it has a cool little colour screen. And they look great in black.

2gb is plenty for me as I find if you put your entire music collection on there I tend to song-hop and never listen to an album from beginning to end. If I only have 6 or 7 albums on there I'm more inclined to listen to each album.

Hope that helps :)

I would suggest the iPod Nano because it is small and has a good memory for it's size.

Although this is an ipod question i'd recommend the Creative alternative as it is much better value for money.
