What is an IM address? How can I have one?

In my Q & answer there was a part saying: send IM.
What does it mean?

(send im) = send instant message. In order to do so, you will need to know what messenger they are using, ie. yahoo, msn, icq. Then you will have to sign up for a screen name on the service, this is normally free. Once you do so and know the person's screen name you add them to your list and send a message. There are a lot of help topics on the service that you choose. Hope that helps and good luck.
