Implantation bleeding does not happen for everyone. Those who do experience it have it about 6 to 12 days after ovulation. The bleeding is the result of the fertilized egg attaching to the lining of the uterus.

The bleeding will be scanty, spotty, pinkish and not red. It will not be heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of a period: light bleeding followed by heavy bleeding ending with light bleeding.
