This was a book well before its time ... and it is said that Bill Gates read it and applied it to his life, so it must have something to commend it. A friend who has read it said it was ground-breaking in its day. I understand the Church banned it in 1933, so I am wondering if his method involved "power" which was beyond the pale! I am somewhat relieved, therefore, that Bill has decided to be altruistic and give the majority of his fortune away. I must admit I haven't got round to reading it yet, but it is on my list. I managed to get a free download.

One of his most famous quotes came from the book. It is:

"We must "be" before we can "do," and we can "do" only to the extent which we "are," and what we "are" depends upon what we "think."

Apparently he also wrote another book: "Mental Chemistry", published in 1922, which I understand is also an amazing and interesting self-help read.

In the quest for money and profit (at whatever cost) it is worth remembering another quote from a truly spiritual writer, Lloyd C. Douglas. He wrote:

"Success without honour is failure; profit without integrity is loss."

This is the quotation I keep above my computer at all times and I have it in the bubble on my 360 page.
