Marriage does not promote liberation, not with kids screaming for this or that, or endless clothes, dishes, house and kids to clean, feed, and comfort. Marriage and liberation is an oxymoron. The problem is that people naturally want the good and eschew the bad. They want to pick the good out of marriage, and leave the bad, which is mainly responsibility. They want to pick the good out of liberation, and leave the bad, which is mainly loneliness. This present promiscuous society makes this possible. You can have your cake and eat it too. You get free milk without having to take care of the cow. The only thing that spoils it is an unwanted pregnancy and a sexually transmitted disease. Both can put a serious crimp in your liberation.

This is a very good question, requires alot of thought. However I wonder about it too. I mean I work as well as my husband and well it seems that it is up to me to get the groceries and make sure the house is clean and when I come home fix supper. Let me tell you that doesn't always happen, I'm usually to tired to fix supper and do laundry or go to the store, but it has to be done. He helps out for the most part but it is still the woman who feels that it's her place to be gatekeeper. It's how God made us.

i think the notion that women cant be liberated and married is fairly old school. For whatever reasons marriage came about, today a marriage is supposed to be a partnership of equals. Men and women have different roles but that shouldn't mean one is more superior than the other.
I would like to get married one day but if it consists of being a baby producer, tied to the oven then it is definately not for me..

liberation came when men would do such wonderful things like leave their wives, or die without having made provisions for them...
you leave a woman with a couple of kids on her own in a world where its all about men and what will happen to her? and your children? if women could not work, and earn enough money to be able to pay for the basics food/clothing/shelter etc... then who is gonna take care of them when men go off to war... or die... or decide they wanna be irresponsible and play around and get into trouble... what about women who's men went to jail?
do you want this country to be like some of the others out there
somewhere along the line in this "mans" world...women were left out... treated as if they were beneath men... and guess what... god did not intend for it to be that way either.... so go back to the bible and read what man is supposed to do.. what was his role in gods plan... then look at history and see if you can see where it went wrong and got all screwed up and how...
then you'll see.... life is becoming a "survival of the fittest"... and women want to survive in this world just like the men do...

Well from a blibical perspective women are told to "submit to their husbands" and men are told to "love their wife as they love themselves". Both of which in this day and age people don't understand. Without love there is no marriage, but without submission there is equally no marriage.
Liberation is often defined as "freedom without boundaries". Liberation started off as a good cause but when taken to an extreme it makes a marriage worthless.
Marriage is suppose to be defined as "surrendering of My Rights " to establish "Our Rights".
A marriage without a surrender of rights is actually a prolonged "official date" with a breakup waiting at the door.
