Sometimes when I open or startup windows the System32 folder pops-ups on the screen. I see a folder with the name "CatRoot". Is it a variant of a rootkit or what?

I have McAfee Anti-virus v.10.0 and McAfee Firewall and Ad-Aware SE. How come they did not pick up any viruses anyway? They're always up-to-date.

Catroot is a Windows system folder. It holds information about the system-updates you have done since you first installed your Windows system.
If it was a trojan, virus or something else your McAfee Anti-virus or Ad-Aware SE would have detected it.

Hmmm...sounds as if your system is infected with a virus. I would suggest you to install anti virus software like Mcaffee or AVG. Visit their website for a free download.
