This is the problem with accepting that war is an acceptable solution. This is the problem with the lack of reasoning and logic in the position taken by the Anglo-Saxon world - that a cease-fire is of no use until a final solution to the Middle East "problem" can be articulated.
The Bush-led coalition has already demonstrated that public opinion would not sway it from its course when massive demonstrations and UN inspectors said that there was no rationale for war in Iraq in 2003. They have shown that they have no respect for democracy. This is true, but for the world to fall into their heinous logic now and to embrace war, and an escalation of war to the level of nuclear weapons would be wrong.
Nuclear weapons are by their nature criminal. They kill and destroy indiscriminately. The reason that the US did not face war crime sanctions after 1945 is the same reason that makes prosecution of war crimes problematic even today - that is that in order to be described as a war criminal one must be on the losing side.
If you have any hope for the future then please find it in compassion, not hate. Escalation and revenge only bring more of the same. Someone somewhere has to have the courage to stop this cycle, to display a greater intelligence.
A current example of this which I think has gone unreported is in India. There have been numerous Temple bombings there and there has been the commuter train bombings. In the past these types of incidents have brought on violent inter-community responses. This time, no one jumped to a conclusion that another community was to blame. No neighbourhoods were burned. No places of worship were attacked in "revenge." This is a remarkable development. It seems to show a maturity in Indian society that we in the west should take time to celebrate, but it has not been reported by the media, why is that?
Please Analyse who profits from warfare. War is the ultimate corporate capitalist endeavour. What is more wonderful for corporate capitalism than a situation where war material is produced and sent to the war zone to be destroyed and then needs to be replaced. War is the ultimate consumer society. Unfortunately, the people involved in the war don't matter at all to the strategists and war profiteers that are safely ensconced at a distance, making profits from selling the war material and from the increased commodity prices and consolidating their political power based on instilling fear into the minds of the people.
Please join the majority in the quest for peace. If only we really had democracy, then we could address real problems like global warming and pollution instead of adding to them with stupid warfare.

No, Nuclear weapons are not much of an option any longer. Our military will use them as a last resort, but we are so far away from that last resort that it is not even funny. There are so many other ways to wage war, that the Nuclear options are pretty well off the table. It is allot like poison gas in the first world war. It was used heavily then, but very seldom used in the second world war. It will be the same thing with the nuclear weapons, and the US will probably not use them.

Nuclear holocaust is not the only option. No one wins in a war. Property can be restored, but even a lifetime is not long enough to resolve grief over a lost loved one.
Since Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in the messiah, maybe praying for the messiah to come and bring lasting peace before the world destroys itself would be a win-win-win solutio

Nuclear Weapons are so destructive now that if the USA used them all the Nuclear powers would unleash their arsenals as well. When the radiation cleared, not much of this world would be left.
The weapons the world has now make the two bombs dropped in WWII look like firecrackers. We had all better hope that no one starts this chain reaction!

Nuclear Warheads should never be used, period. What America did in the war was wrong, Hiroshima and Nagasaki didnt have to die, the war was all but over.
No, i cant see Nuclear warheads being used, it would rupture Americas relationships with the world, including us in Britain
