Well, since Iraq supplies only 5% of our oil, I sincerely doubt that.
Here are the top 15 countries the US imported from. Using the oil theory, we would have invaded poorly defended Canada and Mexico by now.

Honestly I think we went to Iraq because Saddam Hussein Threatened to kill G.W. Bush's daddy. I think he came in to office wanting to kick Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti out of power.
If there wasn't oil in the middle east none of these radicals would not have enough money to make any difference to anyone except themselves. We made these people powerful by making them rich.

We are in this war because American voters elected a dumbshit President. If oil wasn't available our ecomomy would crash, but the Islamic radicals would still hate us because we are in their land and they consider Westerners barbarians.
