A wood chuck chucks wood, that's what a wood chuck do. Its NOT a dangerous animal, but it can cause allot of lawn and shrubs problems. Suggest that you find some way to get rid of this pest. Their fun to watch and photograph their are interesting. If you have children just school them on watching and not trying to touch, though you really can't get that close to them as they will scoot down their hole. You might call animal control in your area and see if they will come out and remove with a live trap. This way the critter can be relocated to a less populated area where it will survive. I hope this helps.. Good Luck..

They aren't dangerous as in run up and attack you but they are wild animals. They are commonly killed by farmers and country folk where shooting is an option because digging under barns and buildings is very destructive. If this one feels very safe he may decide to eat your landscaping but it isn't common in my area they are generally out around fields where they can eat without too much trouble. Unfortunately having him removed by trapping or other means is probably best, be sure to get any others because his burrow is probably a nest.

It is dangerous. It's a wild animal don't approach it.
Not so sure about killing it either, may want to call animal control in your city and have it removed. They'll relocate it and it'll live happily ever after.
