I guess when she or he has been there for you 24*7, when she's stood by you when no one else has and also when she is the only one to scream at you for doing something wrong. She'll haul you up when you've been stupid and won't mince words but through it all you'll knw there's no malice. You can be silent with her and not explain why, tell her you don't feel like talking and she won't sulk.
It's best answered with this adage: 'A best friend walks in when the whole world walks out'

You cant just choose your best friend out of all your mates, and you cant have only one best friend either. It doesnt sound like you have one at all though. Maybe your best friend is the one who has never had a falling out with you, and has always been there and loyal to you. Maybe your best friend is the one who hangs out with you most of the time. Maybe your best friend is your old friend who was one of your very first. This is what defines a best friend. Surely not EVERYONE in the class will be like this. Find the people who are, and spend more time with them, to build the friendship more and more until you can call them your best friend no doubt.

The term best friend is used very loosely these days. I have one friend with whom I have been friends for over forty years. she is always there for me no matter what, I can tell her anything and she is never judgmental, nor does she like me any less because of the things i have done in my past. She cries with me when I hurt, she laughs with me when I am happy. She encourages me when i am discouraged. I have other friends that I love very much and that I consider to be extremely close to but if i had to pick one best friend it would be the person that I described to you.

Who says you need just one? Personally, a best friend is something that happens more naturally; it's that person who just gets you so well, and likes you anyway. Sometimes, more than one person does it; sometimes, no one at all.
I'd say give it time. The more time you spend with your friends, the better idea you'll get of which of your friends you feel closer too.

A best friend is that special friend who loves, respects and accepts you for who are and who will always be there for you to laugh with or to cry with, to help you through your darkest days who is always there for you without questions asked.
Real best friends are hard to find and mostly you find out who your best friends are when you are in trouble. You can have more than one best friend. Some people are lucky to have several best friends who will always be there for them.
You can't choose a best friend. You will find out about who your best friends are when the time gets there that you will need one or more to help you out and maybe you are one of the lucky people who have more than one best friends.
For now just enjoy the friendships that you have with all your friends and be there for them when they need you and hopefully when you need them they will be there for you.
Don't worry yourself about having only one best friend you can have more and time will learn you if they are really your best friends. Good luck.

When they are there for you for the extreme. When they understand what your going though and try to help you. When your in a mood but they are still there for you because they know that its just the mood talking.
You know when youve made a best friend because you'll be able to tell them ANYTHING and do/show them anything. You can feel it in your heart when you meet your best friend.

The worst possible thing is if you cannot Identify one best friend out of the many friends then you never had any friends they are just taking advantage of you.

I wouldn't go sticking labels on people and choosing, you will offend someone this way! Sure you can have more than 1 best friend, as long as they're special to you then what does it matter?
Love them all!!!

No need to.
Try doing your own thinking, shoulda woulda, coulda, are all wish words, they always refer to that which does not yet exist, or that simply does not exist.
If you are comfortable in the span of each of your relationships with each of your friends, then that really is good enough.
Anything else is rubbish.
Best friends are not assigned by anyone, they simply evolve.

If you can look at someone and think to yourself that no matter what their problem you will be there for them,
"A friend in need is a friend indeed".
If however when you look at that same person and are not prepared to make that commitment,
"A friend in need is a pest".
