If you watch the special features they show some of the actual "girls".
It was a really good movie.

I think there really was an actual Mrs. Henderson who did own the only theater to stay open in London during the blitz and did show unclothed ladies so the story is fairly accurate. I'm sure some exaggeration and dramatization was done but the underlying story is true.
