I think it has to do with how long weed stays in your body, which is for about a month.
Are you sure you only smoke weed once in a while? Cause the symptoms you are talking about happen to chronic smokers who have smoked all the time (like myself). I still have all my mental faculties.
When I use to smoke in moderation, my memory would come back the next day. It could also be due to the fact of how much weed you smoke in moderation like 2, 3, 4 grams in an hour span. Or maybe your getting really good quality stuff, in which I'd say "HOOK ME UP!" LOL
The only thing that will restore your memory is, I'm sorry to say it, if you stop smoking weed for about a month. But hey, that's my opinion.
Try to stay informed about the effects of weed and if you have high tolerance or low tolerance for weed cause they all play a part in contributing to your memory loss.
Your brain cells aren't dead. Try not to listen to these people preaching the whole "after school special" thing. Your brain cells are hybernating in a sense. You are aware that you even have memory loss.
Remember, weed is not a drug no matter who says otherwise. 3 glasses of wine can be more poisionous for your body but weed gets the bad rap. And alcohol is legal. They say to drink alcohol in moderation as well but we all know that doesn't happen. It's still legal and weed gets the short end of the stick. Bunch of hypercritical people out there.
The weed high takes your mind elsewhere, elevates it and your stress level decreases. What you are going through in terms of memory loss is a result of this. Give it time. Your brain is saying: First you don't wanna be stressed, now you wanna be stressed...first you wanted to forget, now you wanna remember?
Wishing for instanteous results is literally playing games with your mind. Take it easy....let the memory come back if it wants. If it doesn't, then take it as a sign of memory loss, something that we all go through at one point of our lives or another.
Try not to worry...your memory has not been damaged...it's just behind some smoke. Let the smoke lift (a month) and see what happens then.
If you are still worried, try going to your local hydroponics shops and see if they have any helpful information or can refer you elsewhere to find answers.

I used to smoke it occasionally, like you about once a month. I haven't in about six years, due to lack of availability in my area.
I did not get those temporary memory losses back when I was smoking, but I do now. Weed has nothing to do with it.
I will now walk into a room and forget why. I can't remember people's names for ****. I will talk to someone for ten minutes, knowing I know them somehow, but can't remember where or when I met them, or how I know them.
Again, I have not smoked weed in over six years.
I am EXTREMELY distracted these days. I am a single mother. My child has special needs. I am attending collge. I have a low-paying job, so I worry a lot about how to pay my bills. I am actively looking for a better job. I am on a fairly new doctor-ordered diet to control my high blood pressure. I am trying to get more exercise into my life, while at the same time I am facing surgery for endometriosis (female troubles). My mother is in poor health, and I am trying to help her out as much as possible.
I mentioned my memory problems to my doctor, and she said it was because I was very distracted and stressed out. She sent me to a specialist who gave me some memory tests there in the office and I scored slightly higher than normal.
I'd suggest you take a long, hard look at what's going on in your life. If you have a lot of stress or distractions, I would point to that as your main culprit. Try to cut some of the stress, or find some relaxation exercises to de-stress.
If this is not the case, then it might be worthwhile to check with your doctor. Don't be afrad to mention occasional weed use to the doc. Yes, you will probably get the "it's illegal and dangerous" lecture, but once that's out of the way any decent doctor will let that go, and help you with what's really going on. If possible, try to see a doctor that is open to using alternative treatments in addition to the traditional ones.
Hope this helps.

look, im a heavy smoker. the only time this happens to me is when i want it to. im too tired, or just not really focusing simply. Believe me you memory is riding on what you want to remember take it off of autopilot, and rely on yourself and emphasis what you want. reefer affects the dopamine receptors in the brain which if you have heard of a runners high its the same principle, do the forget, yeah sure because were failable humans but its not the pot. Be Conscious even when your stoned.... and forget these non smokers they dont have the experience, im reading this and laughing

I would say to you.... remember what people tried to tell you about weed when you were younger?
But you probably don't remember any of that.
So insted of asking a silly question about what you NOW cannot change, why not go to the area schools and show the kids what dope has done to you.
MAYBE just maybe you may save one kid from becoming just like you.
