pres winKey+payse break> Advance> under performance click settings> Advance>under Virtual memory> Change> give your desired Virtual memory in MB (the .... mb you specify that .... mb of your hard disk is used as Virtual memory )

note exact Virtual memory must be 1.5 of Ram e.g Vmemory of 256 Mb Ram is 384 MB

I think you need more info than you can get here, because you need diagrams. I've been looking for a site that will show you step by step how to do it, but basically you
- check your motherboard, go to the manufacturers website and see how much RAM it can support and how many RAM slots you have.
- check how much you already have installed
- decide whether to replace the existing RAM sticks or add more. Replacement is more exensive, but if you add RAM of a different type your pc might not be able to recognise it.
- So lets say you have 2 RAM slots, your motherboard can support 1 gig RAM, and you have 256 mb installed.
You could replace the existing stick with a 1 gig stick or
you could add a 512 mb stick.

Once you've bought the RAM, you unscrew the case, clean it while you're in there, push the RAM into the slot, screw tha case back together and then boot the pc and check that the RAM has been recognised.

Remember that Windows XP can only use 2 gig RAM, so adding any more than that is a waste of money.

If there's anything here that isn't clear, post back and we'll try to explain it more clearly!

First off, its so easy to install ram you don't need to waste money by taking your computer to a shop to install, the person who said that if you put more then 2 gigs is a waste of money in xp I believe is wrong, I have over 2gigs and you can see when you right click my computer and click properties it shows 3 gigs of ram, the person who says if you put over 512mbs is redundant is incorrect, your computer runs smoother and it doesn't freeze up as much the more ram you have, it depends on the motherboard how much you can put in. The best ram to get is Corsair you can research this brand on the Internet, you buy 2 identical chips because when you run the ram dual it helps stop the info from bottle necking, so if you wanted 1 gig of ram total you buy 2 512MB chips, if you would like to have 2 gigs of ram you buy 2 identical chips that are 1 gig each, go to pricegrabber.com and you can shop there for ram, make sure you buy the same brand, you shouldn't use 2 different brand chips it will cause instability, it is also a good idea to buy ram with heat spreaders this helps to keep them cooler and makes your computer run more efficient but it cost more money. Corsair ram also costs a little bit more money.

Make sure the RAM you buy is compatible with the RAM you already have, or else you'll have problems. Also, buy branded RAM; memory with a company logo on it. It's reportedly more reliable.

There are many different types of RAM (DDR2, DDR400 etc), so read up about it first, or call a technician.

ram is memory . Its implimented in pc by a ram module in inserted in to ram slot in motherboard, if you need to upgrade the ram you have to replace the module with new one. For that you need to know you mother board manufacturer and buy a suitable ram to motherboard. Some mother board can support two module at a time , then you get better speed.

Take your PC to a good technician who will install more memory on your motherboard. Anything above 512 Mb RAM is probably redundant, unless you're a big gamer. Good luck.

You have to get RAM that will fit your computer. It means having a look at what is there and how many empty slots you have.

If you don't know what you are doing, best to take the base unit (or laptop) to a store and get them to have a look.

You can just buy it at any computer shop, though i'd recommend looking for RAM labelled as PC3200 as that is probably the best you can get for your computer.

Though in this case i'd recommend finding someone to install ti for you as it can be a bit fiddly at times.

RAM is Random Access Memory...it is solid state memory that is added to the motherboard of your computer. You will already have some and they are strips of microchips that fit into slots on your motherboard.

RAM is bought in terms of its memory capacity 128MB, 256MB, 512MB.

You have a limited number of slots on your motherboard and if they are already full of RAM then you will have to discard some RAM of lower capacity and replace them with one of higher capacity. For example you may have three slots each with 128MB RAM, giving you a total of 384MB of RAM for your computer, but you will need to replace one with a higher value, Hence 3x128 - 128 + 512MB = 768MB

If you have free slots then you can add RAM and it adds straight to the total RAM of you computer (most likely if you have not upgraded your RAM already)

Each computer's type of RAM may vary so you will need to check what specs of RAM you need to install.

The minimum RAM for a modern computer is about 512MB but I would recommend 1GB (1000Mb) - handling/Manipulating images/video on your computer uses up a lot of RAM (if you do a lot of this make sure you have a good video card as well).

Unless you are confident about changing RAM over, then get a computer technicain to do it as you can create more problems if they are not fitted properly or your create a static discharge (or even electrocute yourself!)

Go to a computer shop and buy it.
You'll need to take details of your PC, so you get the right kind.
You can fit it yourself, but a lot of places will do it for you at a price.
