Is eaten in China ... I know that they import male Bernhardiner dogs from Switzerland to use them as "bulls" for Chinese female dogs in dog farms, because the Swiss Bernhardiner carries a lot of weight.
They do not use female Bernhardiners for breeding, because the race of Bernhardiner is expensive and of course under commercial aspects the dog meat must be produced as cost-effective as possible.
PS: And also tell me friends from Istanbul/Turkey that some cheap restaurants proceed like this: for Jewish people they mustn´t serve pork. For local people they should provide chicken, which can cause hygienic problems easily when preparing salads with unwashed fingers. For tourist people they should provide cattle, which is expensive there. So ... all people are served best with ..... dog meat.

Many places in south-east asia, dogs meat is considered a delicacy. In China and Korea, human beings will see canines in cages waiting to be slaughtered (like our lobster tanks) or putting down the butcher's hooks to be offered. Many eating places specilize in and serve dogs meat (and cats).

South Korea's dog meat lovers are biting back at their critics in the West.
Supporters of Korean restaurants which serve dog meat are threatening to cripple internet sites of leading Western media companies, whom they accuse of making insulting comments about the century-old tradition of eating dog.
"South Korean culture is under attack," said the organisers of one local website who have vowed to paralyse the site of US media giant Warner Brothers and that of French state television channels.
I am sure that Westerners will like dog meat if they eat it - it is tasty and healthy
Professor Ahn Yong-keun
Dog eating has once again become a hot topic ahead of the football World Cup finals to be co-hosted by South Korea and Japan.
The debate was partly fuelled by football's world governing body Fifa, which urged South Korea to take action against the slaughter of dogs and animal cruelty.
The French actress and animal rights activist Bridget Bardot has also denounced the practice.

The above, but it's also habitual in most West-African countries. And in the past Native Americans would eat their dogs in times of need.
