Nope. Like it or not, gods are purely human inventions. When you believe in gods that's theism. Before gods, people believed in spirits, and that was called animism. Gods are simply anthropomorphized, super-idealized spirits.

The "god meme" came about for many reasons. Rulers used the idea of gods as a justification for their own authority. Primitive societies use gods and the concepts of heaven/hell to enforce morality. Afterlife is just used to comfort us about death and mask our fears of it. Churches evolved as ways of strengthening social bonds, and reinforcing the god meme.

Even separate from the many, MANY things wrong with _religion_, I can't bring myself to believe an obvious human invention to be something other than just another abstract concept. (I.e. I am unable to "just have faith.") To do so is a violation of intellectual integrity, and an act of self-deception, no matter how comforting it may make you feel. The whole notion of gods is just too fantastical, nonsensical, and self-contradictory for any truly rational mind to accept with integrity.

Whether you believe in God or not, He still will be there. There is such a thing as the good seed and the bad seed though. Either a person has been impregnated with one or the other. You will notice that Christians, or believers, or whatever you want to call them are impregnated with the good seed and therefore submit to God - the only true God who created Heaven and earth and Adam and Eve. God is real. One only has to ask for Him to come into their lives and heal their sins. The only problem is that humans love to dwell in sin. They think it is fun. Freedom in Christ Jesus is true fun, and it is real. And peace can come into one's life if only they would not be stubborn, and they would ask Christ Jesus into their hearts. Lets face it, it is not hard to ask this question sincerely once, if nothing happens, then get on with your life. You have nothing to lose other than sickness, fear, demons and the like. A person either wants peace in their life, or they don't.

Yes I believe in god because there is lot of evil in the world. So if there is bad there obviously is good in this world. This good is what some of us call god. We find ample proof in our day to day life that there is enough good in the world. Look at yourself you kind soul...you too are searching for the lord in all of us out here.

Nope.

Mostly it's because it just doesn't feel "right" I could say it's because I'm a man of science, but in reality that's only part of it. Whenever I think of being watched over by an omnipotent I just don't feel right about it, like there's something fundamentally wrong with that concept that I can't quite verbalize.
