AC/DC, Silverchair, Inxs and various others have been popular in the past here in the UK. The Datsuns were quite popular a few years ago. Brody from the Distillers is from Melbourne, and she's pretty popular right now. Then there's obviously the numerous pop acts that have been popular in Britain (the Minogues, etc).
It's strange. For a country that has produced so many famous actors and sports persons, it's contribution to the rock n roll world seems paltry.

Powderfinger are an incredible Australian band. Silverchair are a marginally much less extraordinary band that in basic terms sound sturdy while they're putting out Nirvana or Coldplay, yet they're Aussie. Spiderbait are enormously sturdy. additionally device Gun Fellatio, some thing for Kate, Jebediah, The Saints, and U Am I are dazzling Australian bands. Then there is chilly Chisel and ACDC, once you're into that form of factor.
