I saw some pictures and read a few articles about this but never with any scientific or reasonable backing to as to why it's possible.
Is it even possible?

in the mothers womb the baby is in the amniotic fluid....which is a solution of water n many salts n gases n lotsa other stuff whcih can enable the baby to survive n protect against mechanical shocks...but theumblical cord is present which helps in respiration n excretion n blah blah.....so when the baby is born it adapts to the outer env and switches on to breathing raw air and after that since the lungs are properly developed and the other things whcih the baby might have used for respiration has deteriorated...it wont be able to breathe more than any grown ppl do in water. so in short...a baby cannot breathe for long inside water probably more than grown ups butultimately they will die.

Can new born babies swim underwater (in a swimming pool not the ocean) without oxygen tanks?

babies indeed instinctively hold their breath. older kids (if they fall in water) try to breath in which is bad thing to do. the reason is that we are born with plenty of animals instincts and we simply forget them because we dont need them. study some other instincts that are characteristic for infants, some more for newborns some more even for prematures. The doctors test newborns whether they have all instincts they should have - like when a newborn is laying on the back and you suddenly quickly pull at the blanket under it it quickly presses its arms to the bed - as if it wants to hold where it is - older babies cant do it. small babies can hold your finger with really strong grip - quess why?

Hey, nobody is saying that infants can survive underwater for long "without oxygen tank" - that is impossible. No human being can actually breath underwater!!! you can only hold breath!!

A friend of mine has been going to infant swimming lessons and it is so cool that the little boy loves water so much and swims with open eyes!! all the time, like a fish. But he never breaths underwater!!! like fish

Not for long, they run out of air just like an adult and will drown, you don't want to drown your baby.

Infants do instinctively hold their breath though.

Most public pools won't let a baby swim though, because babies cannot control their bodily functions.

Short dunks with super vigalant supervision.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, leave a baby alone in any amount of water. Too many babies have drowned by being left alone in the tub.

In answer to your question yes they can claim from you. Unfortunately as it was your excrement that caused the breakage it is therefor within reason to request you pay for it. You can argue that it was an unforeseeable circumstance but I don't think it will help. I think purely for the easy life you should pay up as if they decide to go to the papers or something that might not go down well.
