yes indeed you can, erasing the History from you browser doesnt actually delete your contents so you cana ctually fish out those details, but you need some technical know how to do that.

One more thing. They contain your browsing history at ALL times. Even after you have instructed Microsoft Internet Explorer to clear your history/cache. And so the saying goes, "seeing is believing."

To see for yourself simply do as you would normally do to clear your browsing history. Go to Internet Options under your Control Panel. Click on the [Clear History] and [Delete Files] buttons. (Make sure to include all offline content.)

So, has your browsing history been cleared? One would think so.

Skipping the to chase here. These are the names and locations of the "really hidden files":

c:\windows\history\history.ie5\index.dat
c:\windows\tempor~1\content.ie5\index.dat

If you have upgraded MSIE several times, they might have alternative names of mm256.dat and mm2048.dat, and may also be located here:

c:\windows\tempor~1\
c:\windows\history\

Not to mention the other alternative locations under:

c:\windows\profiles\%user%\...
c:\windows\application data\...
c:\windows\local settings\...
c:\windows\temp\...
c:\temp\...

(or as defined in your autoexec.bat.)

FYI, there are a couple other index.dat files that get hidden as well, but they are seemingly not very important. See if you can find them.

you can use serach to find index.dat files, make sure you select search hidden files and folders.

download the tool to view the contents of the index.dat file from here

Hope that helps and catch your son.

Cheers

It's water under the bridge now.
Is he a minor? If so, you should set yourself up with Admin. rights and give him his own sign in profile without them. That way you could set up parental controls and also block him from doing certain functions..like erasing search histories or temp. internet files. You could also add sites to the Blocked list so he can't visit them.

History first

then

Internet Options
Settings
View Files
Here you will see a buch of cookies that will have the web addresses to them.

then buy a special software program. I've seen them. You put it on the computer and it makes it easy to snoop on your children. I think they won't be able to delete histories without your permission.
