Ok so the government here seems to take care of the hungry and the poor in every country but it's own. I mean seriously they let people use social security who don't even need it but yet they can't afford to help the homeless guy thats starving down the street. There are so many people right under the governments nose that need help right in there own country. It just pisses me off Anyone Agree??

Guys, you are not alone with this - I am Australian and our Government gives so much money to other countries it makes me mad.

A lot of the money given goes into the pockets of their crooked politicians and law keeping forces. It would be far wiser to give tractors, machinery, clothing, food, education, etc. That way there is a better chance of it getting to the people who need it.

I believe that Charity begins at home - get your own house in order before you go giving it away so freely when our own people need it more.

When Indonesia had the big sunami, Australia sent money, the army, medical people and experienced tradespeople to help rebuild. Funny, you know, a lot of the money had disappeared, I wonder - can we guess who got it.

Also, when we have major disasters in Australia, no one comes to our aid and what about the USA when they have major disasters - who comes to their aid. Is it because we help others that they think that its a one way street and we dont need the help.

There has been a lot of help from the USA when we have the big bush fires and I know we have sent out firefighters to the USA to help out.

Australia has a very small population and yet we give so much, I think it is about time we stopped and looked to our home shores before we give out anymore charity - then maybe we should be more selective.

I agree we as a group are not doing enough to help folks that do not have homes. However, we must all understand that some people are not healthy enought to decide what is best for themselves and what is healthy and what is not.
We need institutions in place that will allow both parties to determine the best corrective action for the patient and the communiy.
