Wear a bullet proof vest and if you are African American never go out alone. The Cops will try to arrest you for something.
Black person in a nice car, you'll be stopped and checked out. Standing on a corner waiting for a bus, they will try to say your working, or selling.
Just be careful... Outside of, "L.A." I don't know about...

It depends if you are moving or visiting.
I've been all over CA, and I find it to be a cesspool.
Fun night life for a day or two, but I would never live there.
